For us it was the culmination of 5 months hard work in the workshops, with all of the service teams contributing to the final exhibits of the ATV and trailer pump, The story follows below.
The final Preparations on the weekend before departure
The highlight of the year for a number of the Team was the
VE/VJ Celebrations in July at the Mall in London, where we swapped our civvies, and donned our NFS Kits.
However the Tin Helmets were of no consolation when the bombers struck, it was a very scary day. The bombers missed some of our team going through Kings Cross underground station by a matter of some 20 minutes!

But I don't think anyone of us would have not wanted to stay.
And as I share with you some of those amazing memories of our 4 days on the Mall, I can only feel humbled at the resilience of the Veterans and Londoners we met.
The party of Malc, Den, Tony, Roy and myself (Pat) had left Weedon on the Wednesday afternoon with the ATV and Pump on a hired flatbed lorry.
